the_rock.JPGFor now this site is nothing more than a little about Steven and Ressie’s life together, our interests, our beliefs and some of the things we’re doing or have done. So take a look around and send us a comment or note if you wish.

Our aquariumHere is the latest photo of our saltwater aquarium. Ressie bought me a Regal Tang and a Flame Hawkfish for my birthday. More pics of the aquarium in our photo gallery. We also took out all that plain Florida field rock and replaced it with real live rock.

Our AquariumSo far we have a Naso Tang, Yellow Tang, 4 Chromies, and 2 Hermit Crabs. One of the Hermit Crabs moved into a larger shell that Ressie put in the tank. We put the larger shell in the tank just for that reason. As they grow they need a larger shell to live in.

These flowers are called Queen of the Night. The flowers bloom from a cactus type vine that is growing all the way up to the top of a 40 ft palm tree. This flower blooms only at night for one night once a year. We missed the 1st batch that bloomed a couple days ago, about 15 of them. Tonight 20 flowers were in bloom. They are a beautiful site.

yellow_tang.jpgWe put our second fish in the tank tonight. A yellow tang. He seems to be getting along well with the Naso Tang, who is also doing real well. We also put in 3 small pieces of live rock.

We have some what of a algae problem right now which is to be expected with a new tank. The addition of live rock and adding some poly filter to the canister filters to remove phosphates should take care of it. Water changes will also help. Tap water is the biggest problem so distilled water will have to do until we can get a Reverse Osmosis unit.

Naso TangWell the tank is done with it’s biological cycle and we went out and purchased a Naso Tang, aka Lipstick Tang because they look like they are wearing lipstick. I’ve kept the Naso Tang before and they are a really cool fish. So far he seems to be doing really well.

Space ShuttleWe watched the Space Shuttle go up from our backyard this evening. It’s always a beautiful site to see. Click the thumbnail for larger view.
